Every Day
Anonymous
Every day comes with the unknown. Yes, you may have a general idea
of what you need to do, what time to be in class and who's free after
2:10 pm, but everyone and everything is intermingled in someway.
Imagine walking down the hallway to your first period class. You
parted from your friends and turned down a separate hallway. Now, you
are alone. The hallway is hazy and appears to narrow. Faces of your
peers, older and younger, are passing by you but there’s not a face you
truly recognize. This feeling rushes over you. Something is not okay.
But no one else seems to feel this drastic shift in events. All the hairs on
your arm stick up straight on high alert, why? The emotions that ring
through your bones blind you and steal you from that moment with no
chance of being talked down. After a quick get away the bathroom
seems like it would be a safe place to go. A mirror stares back at you
showing everything but yourself. Blank space with a blank face, that
feeling surrounds and becomes you. It’s been going on for too long to
bear but reality shows only 30 seconds have passed. Now your thoughts
are redirecting, things that have never bothered you are popping up like
a slideshow of the unconscious mind. Hot flashes up and down your
back. The past becomes a blur. Who have you become? A ghost? This
dawning and shivering feeling that has taken over is called anxiety.
Many suffer. Trying to just go through the motions of the day and being
taunted by the devil. The unknown is what makes the experience
frightening. You are not yourself. You no longer have control...
